Sun Dynasty and Moon Dynasty
Posted on Jan 4, 2012:
(includes a discussion on the Golden Aged Sun Dynasty, Confluence Aged Sun Dynasty, Silver Aged Moon Dynasty, Confluence Aged Moon Dynasty; Sun and Moon Dynasties in the Copper Aged Life-Dramas etc)
The Sun Dynasty is also referred to as the Solar Dynasty, Suryavansh, Suryavanshi or Suryavamsa. The Moon Dynasty is also referred to as the Lunar Dynasty, Somvansh, Chandravansh or Chandravamsa. The term vansh or vamsa refers to 'descent'.
In the Hindu myths, scriptures and Indian history, the Sun and Moon Dynasties are often mentioned. One has to understand what was meant by the Sun Dynasty and the Moon Dynasty so as to understand what is being said or referred to.
The people, in the Golden Age, belong to the Sun Dynasty because the human souls, in the Golden Age, shine very brightly like the sun. The people, of the Silver Age, are seen as belonging to the Moon Dynasty because the souls, in the Silver Age, do not shine as brilliantly like the souls in the Golden Age; just as the moon does not shine as brilliantly as the sun.
The Confluence Aged Dynasty/clan can be seen as both, the Sun Dynasty and as the Moon Dynasty. God is the Leader of the Confluence Aged Sun Dynasty (in respect of the souls, in the Confluence Aged subtle regions). But where the Confluence Aged Moon Dynasty is concerned, both (God and Brahma Baba) play a leading role. The Moon Dynasty involves the usage of what is in the corporeal world. The Sun Dynasty only involves the Confluence Aged souls, while they are in the Confluence Aged subtle regions.
God shines brilliantly like the sun. Further, during the Confluence Age, God is also involved with sustenance and spiritual growth/creation at the End of the cycle. This is similar to the sun being involved with sustenance and growth of living things, in the corporeal world. I have discussed how God is involved with sustenance and spiritual growth/creation at:
Samudra Manthan (Churning the Ocean of Milk)

In the Confluence Age, when we are in the stage of being Bapsaman, we will also be shining brilliantly like the sun. Thus, for all the above reasons, the Confluence Aged Dynasty was also portrayed as the Sun Dynasty.
We can be seen as members of the Confluence Aged Moon Dynasty because we (the souls) are reflecting off God's light into the corporeal world; just as the moon is reflecting the sun's light into the corporeal world. Further, in the sakar murlis, Brahma Baba has been referred to as the full moon and we have been told to become like Brahma Baba (i.e. the souls have to become like the full moon). We also belong to Brahma Baba's Confluence Aged clan, on earth, since the soul within him is the leader for the deity souls on earth. Thus, for all the above reasons, we belong to the Moon Dynasty too.
By the End of the cycle, it will be known as to whether we belong to the Sun Dynasty of the Golden Age or whether we belong to the Moon Dynasty of the Silver Age. Even in the Copper Age, those who had just walked out of the divine world would know if they belonged to the Golden Aged Sun Dynasty or whether they belonged to the Silver Aged Moon Dynasty. Thus, the Copper Aged kings etc were portrayed as belonging to either the Suryavamsa or to the Chandravamsa. This portrayal was also reflected in the Life-Dramas of that time and were included into the glamour that was attached to kings and others.
So, in the scriptures etc, if the Moon Dynasty is mentioned, one has to first identify as to whether they are:
1. talking about the souls living in the Silver Age, or
2. talking about the souls in the Confluence Age, or
3. referring to the status of the deity souls (as perceived at the end of the Silver Age and/or at the End of the cycle), or
4. referring to the status of the deity souls, in the Life-Dramas of the Copper Age.
If the Sun Dynasty is being mentioned, in the myths etc, one has to identify whether it is a:
1. reference to the souls who are living in the Golden Age, or
2. reference to the souls who belong to God's Sun Dynasty in the Confluence Age, or
3. reference to the fact that the soul is capable of taking births in the Golden Age (as perceived at the End of the cycle), or
4. reference to the fact that the soul had taken births in the Golden Age (as perceived at the end of the Silver Age, or
5. reference to the status of the deity souls, in the Life-Dramas of the Copper Age.
